Cheap Hotels and Accommodation

Rockhampton lies on the Fitzroy River in Central Queensland and is known as the Beef Capital of Australia. It is located on the Tropic of Capricorn about 600 kilometres north of Brisbane and just 100km north of Gladstone. Grazing and beef production are the dominant industry in Central Queensland. Tourism is also a major industry with the southern Great Barrier Reef just off the coastline of Rockhampton.

Rockhampton has an amazing climate with over 300 days of sunshine each year. This ensures it’s a popular tourist destination with a great variety of outdoor activities to experience. One of the more popular attractions is the recently heritage-listed Rockhampton Botanic Gardens which are over 130 years old. The grounds also house the Rockhampton Zoo and its diverse range of native animals. Also check out the popular Riverbank Parklands located on the banks of Fitzroy River. Just outside Rockhampton you can explore the Capricorn Coast between Yeppoon and Emu Park, head across to Great Keppel Island and its national park or head up to Mt Archer National Park which provides magnificent views of the city.

In Rockhampton explore the many old buildings including Customs House, the Old Post Office, cathedrals, banks and old homes. Rockhampton Heritage Village is an active township museum or you could also visit the Dreamtime Cultural Centre, set amongst 30 acres of natural bushland on ancient indigenous sites or the Capricorn Caverns, magnificent limestone caves just outside the city.

Rockhampton is also home to the Central Queensland University's main campus servicing the largely rural Central Queensland region. Rockhampton has an excellent selection of cheap accommodation and last minute hotels for tourists and business travellers. Let Quickbeds help you find the right place to stay.
