You have your choice of three airports when flying into the Whitsundays. The coast is serviced by Whitsunday Coast airport in Proserpine where you’ll find coach transfers to Airlie Beach, a 40 minutes drive away. Alternatively, you can fly right into Hamilton Island or to Mackay which is about an hour and a half’s drive away from Airlie Beach. Boat charters and accommodation are available from either Airlie Beach or Hamilton Island or you can take ferry services between the islands.

From the mainland, you’ll be heading for Airlie Beach to start your Whitsundays holiday. Brisbane is the nearest capital city to the Whitsundays and is located about 1180 kilometres south or you can come from Cairns in the north, which is about a 6 hours’ drive. If sailing, we recommend safely stowing your  vehicle at Airlie Beach while enjoying your holiday.
