Getting to Brisbane
Brisbane by Air
Brisbane and the neighbouring surrounds are serviced by Brisbane International Airport, the 3rd largest airport in the country. Brisbane acts as a hub for many domestic carriers, including Virgin Blue and Pacific Blue and is a secondary hub for Qantas and JetStar. From the airport, passengers can travel to the Brisbane city via Coachtran bus service or vehicle – it’s about a 20 minutes’ drive to the city centre. The AirTrain also connects Brisbane airport to the Gold Coast.
Brisbane by Car
From Sydney, the nearest capital city, driving to Brisbane is just a straight shot up the Pacific Highway or you can opt for the scenic route along the coastal roads – it’s definitely worth the extra time. The entire trip is about 960 kilometres and would take 12 hours, so it’s definitely worthwhile to break up your journey; drop into Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour or Byron Bay for a day. Alternatively, visitors can travel inland along the New England Highway and stop in at great regions like the Hunter Valley and Armidale.

Brisbane Transit Centre offers coach and train services to other destinations including the capital cities. There’s also a cruise ship terminal for international vessel arrivals.
