Wollongong is a seaside city located 80km south of Sydney in the Illawarra region of New South Wales. It is the third largest city in NSW after Sydney and Newcastle, and the tenth largest city in Australia. Wollongong is noted for its heavy industry, its coal mining and port activity as well as its natural beauty with a line of amazing surf beaches. There are many parks and reserves for you to wander through and enjoy the coastal views and a beachside lifestyle of the region.

Due to its stunning surrounds, there are many adventure activities on offer including swimming and surfing in the amazing beaches plus sailing, water skiing, canoeing and fishing on Lake Illawarra. Also on offer are the more extreme sports of hang gliding, paragliding, and abseiling. Wollongong is the only place in NSW where you can sky dive onto the beach.

The city’s hub is centred around the Crown Street Mall and contains major department stores, shops and boutiques as well as a thriving entertainment centre with bars and restaurants. Major attractions in the town include The University of Wollongong, the Nan Tien Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the southern hemisphere, and WIN Stadium, home to the St George Illawarra Dragons in the NRL Premiership.
